Joseph Francis Coburn III (Frankie), age 71, of Bluffton, SC passed away on October 6, 2021 after a brief illness.
Frankie was born on April 25, 1950 in Rock Hill, SC, the son of the late Joseph Francis Coburn Jr. and Janie Woods Coburn.
Frankie was the owner of Champion Automotive Repair Shop where he was an automotive maintenance specialist building trophy winning street rods. He was a well-known biker touring America, Canada and Mexico and riding alone on his Harley-Davidson. His favorite quote was “I rode Harleys when riding a bike wasn’t cool”. He enjoyed drag racing and going to car shows. A drive across the country to a drag race or to buy a 1932 Ford High Boy was like a trip around the block for Frankie.
Frankie is survived by his sister Brenda Bull (William), niece Tracy Smith Armstrong (John), nephew Arthur Smith, three great nieces and three great nephews; many cousins and dear friends.
Special thanks to Ottis and Laura McCall for their love and devotion to Frankie throughout the years and especially during his time of illness.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 pm, Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at Bluffton Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00 pm until the hour of the service at the cemetery.
