Joseph Cuevas Obituary

Joseph L. Cuevas, 69 of Hardeeville, SC formerly of Pipersville, PA passed away on January 14, 2022.  Born in Manhattan, NY in 1952, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mabel (nee Gutierrez) Cuevas.  Joseph was the best friend and beloved husband of Lisa (nee Della Torre) Cuevas, loving father of Joseph V. Cuevas and Justin T. Cuevas.

In addition to his immediate family, he is survived by Uncle Pedro Olivari and wife Maggie, and the late Margarita Tellier and husband George, cousins George Tellier Jr. and wife Janice, Joanie Periera-Kilcullen and husband Kevin, Rene Olivari and wife Rita, Pedro Olivari and wife Keri and the late Vivienne Tellier-Wolfe and husband Andrew, and the late Marcus Olivari.

Also survived by sister-in-law and brother-in-law Laura and Dennis, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Tom and Val, nieces and nephews Tara, Matt, Todd, Leslee, Jason, Whitney, Alissa, Ray, Vinnie, Chrissy, Brian and Corrine.  Great nieces and nephews Caitlin, Keegan, Gracyn, Maddie, Cooper, Elizabeth, Raymond and Kayla.

Joe worked as a Senior Piping Designer for AECOM before retiring in May, 2018 and moved to Hardeeville, SC.  He was an avid NY Giants, Mets and Knicks fan.  He loved coaching his boys in youth basketball and baseball.   When not coaching he enjoyed being the spectator and cheering them on in all their activities.  In retirement he loved hiking, fishing, biking, reading, volunteering and walking on the beach with his wife, but the most important thing to him was his love for his family.  Joe was, in so many ways, kind, compassionate, respectful, generous and fun loving.  He will be missed by all who were blessed to know him.

A memorial mass has been scheduled at St. Gregory the Great Church in Bluffton on Monday, January 24, 2022 at 10:30 a.m.

There will also be a memorial mass at a later date at SS Peter and Paul Church, 1325 Boot Road, West Chester, PA 19380.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the ASPCA.
