Joseph Tiscio Obituary

Joseph J. Tiscio, age 101, of Bluffton, SC and formerly of West Orange, NJ died on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at Coastal Carolina Hospital, Hardeeville, SC

Mr. Tiscio was born on July 25, 1919, the son of the late Angelo and Rose (Putigano) Tiscio.  He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving honorably during World War II as Technical Sergeant in Company D 1759th Engineer Special Shop Battalion.  (Batangas Bay, Luzon, Philippines Campaign)   After the war, he was employed at Tuscan Dairies as a route salesman and became an active member in the Teamsters Union and Union negotiations.  After many years of service, he retired in 1984, but remained active and enjoyed golfing, bowling, and especially spending time with his family.

Mr. Tiscio is survived by his loving wife of 75 years, Rose (Merlino) Tiscio, daughters Karen (Tiscio) Mustachio and Jane Tiscio Massa, grandchildren Joseph Mills, and Carolyn Marquez, grandson-in-law Ryan Marquez, and great grand children, Reese and Olivia Marquez.  Nephews, Al Cuccinello, Steve and Tim Kozlowsky and Niece, SueAnn Baker; and sister and brother-in-law, Lona and Andy Grillos.

Joe was young at heart, and he will be remembered for his warm smile, jolly laugh, positive attitude and zest for life.  He had a caring soul, and always willing to offer a helping hand to friends and family alike.  Beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, he will be missed, loved, and always in our hearts.  Family and friends will never forget his interesting stories about his life experiences as a teenager living through the Depression, as a soldier during WWII, and his recollections of working for Thomas A. Edison in his factory in West Orange, NJ.  He was a true patriot, and he had a strong interest in American history and politics.  He will be remembered for his unconditional love for family, his support, and generous ways.  He will always be close to us in our hearts and he will be missed more than words can say.

“Keep making everyone laugh in heaven with your jokes. You never let anyone walk away without words of advice, a joke, or a smile. God bless you and rest in everlasting peace.”
