Kai Cheek Obituary

Kai Hildegard Cheek, 84, of Bluffton, SC passed away Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at Hilton Head Hospital, Hilton Head Island, SC.

Kai was born May 26, 1936 in Frankfurt, Germany to the late George Loew and Alice Schmidt Loew. She immigrated to the United States in 1967 after meeting her husband, Jay, during his tour in the Air Force. They married in 1968. Kai worked for Air West before starting a travel agency with Jay in California. They worked together for 25 years. Kai enjoyed tennis, swimming, arts and crafts, and spending days on the beach, but there was nothing she cherished more than traveling. She was a thoughtful and loving person.

In addition to her husband, Jay P. Cheek, Jr., Kai leaves behind their beloved dog, Loomis. She was preceded in death by her sister, Ute Renata.

Sauls Funeral Home of Bluffton is assisting the family with arrangements.
