Kathleen McCollum Chapman was born March 18, 1938 in Loughgiel, County Antrim, Ireland to Kathleen and Alexander “Sandy” McCollum. She died February 3, 2022, in Bluffton, South Carolina at age 83 surrounded by her family to whom she was devoted.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Joseph Chapman; her daughter Theresa Younis and her husband William of Bluffton, SC; her daughter Sandra Quigley and her husband Des of Atlanta, GA; her daughter Diane Carroll and her husband, James of Williamsburg, VA; and her son Michael Chapman and his wife Traci of Bluffton, SC; and four grandchildren, Matt Chapman, Alex Carroll, Catie Quigley, and Jack Quigley.
Kathleen, one of ten children, is predeceased by her parents and by siblings Alec, Maureen, Owen, Patrick, and Rosa and is survived by Bride, Colm and Robert in Ireland and Donal of Canada. We have all been blessed with the many extensions of this incredible McCollum clan!
Kathleen was dedicated to family and to God. As an active member of the St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church Parish she participated in bible studies and prayer groups, served as a Eucharistic minister, was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and volunteered with office administration. She and Joe championed conservation efforts. Kathleen was a loyal and dependable friend and family member.
The Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, February 12, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Gregory The Great Catholic Church, 31 St. Gregory The Great Drive, Bluffton, South Carolina.
The Chapman family values our family, friends and members of the parish. We regret, that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we will not receive friends at a reception or in our home following the funeral.
There will be a private interment and Rite of Commitment in the family cemetery.
