LaNell Malphrus Smith

LaNell Malphrus Smith, age 93, of Ridgeland and widow of Kenneth Nelson Smith, passed away on July 31 at her home surrounded by her beloved family.

In addition to her husband of 51 years, she is predeceased by her child Grayling Smith and her parents, Mable and Henry Malphrus.  LaNell was eight years old when her mother, Mable, became disabled and continued her care for the next twenty five years.

LaNell was a faithful member at Great Swamp Baptist Church and enjoyed her involvement with the church activities. 

LaNell is survived by her children, Kenneth “Kenny” Smith of Ridgeland and Marcia Denmark (Lynn A. Bailey) of Broomsfield, CO; her beloved grandchildren, Catherine “Cathy” Rentz of Yemassee, SC, Joey Lee Smith of Ridgeland, SC and Julie Smith of Pooler, GA and ten great grandchildren, Jordan Richardson (Will) of Ridgeland, SC, Christopher Cook (Kyia) of Gillisonville, SC; Sydney Butler, Yemassee, SC; James Mosley of Grays, SC, Kenneth Mosley and Tommy Mosley of Pooler, GA, Christopher Smith and Billy Smith of Delaware; and Joey Lee Boone and Bella Smith of Ridgeland, SC.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, August 8, 2020 at Great Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery.
