Laura Braun Obituary

Laura M. Braun, age 76, of Hilton Head Island, SC and formerly of Stow, OH died Monday, November 19, 2018 at her home.

Laura was born on October 23, 1942 in Youngstown, OH, the daughter of the late Clifford and Esther Sherman. She was a 1960 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School and continued her formal education at The American Institute of Banking. She worked in banking for seven years before beginning a career in sales and fashion. She retired as a sales manager with Weekenders Women’s Clothing after more than 20 years of service. Laura dedicated much of her life to volunteering including Children’s Hospital and the Why Me Cancer Support Group. She was very active in the Moss Creek community while living in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina for the last 16 years. Outside of work and volunteering, Laura enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading, traveling, sewing, sailing and spending time with her “Glory Girls.”

Laura is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, John “Jack” Braun; daughters, Lori Lynn Slaman (Bill) and Wendi Sue Battista (Don); sister, Patricia Sherman and friend, Kathleen Murphy; brother, Robert “Bob” Sherman (Jan); and grandsons, Matthew, Vinny, and Nick Battista.

A Celebration of Laura’s Life will be held at a later date with family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Hospice Care of The Low Country or Keyersyling Cancer Center at Beaufort Memorial Hospital.
