Lloyd Billard Obituary

Lloyd Jack Billard (Jack) passed away peacefully at his residence at Bloom in Belfair Memory Care in Bluffton, SC, March 13, 2020, with his wife and loved ones by his side. Tidewater Hospice and the staff of Bloom eased his transition for all.

Jack was born September 9, 1929, in Spring Valley, IL. After graduating high school, he joined the U.S. Air Force, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant while serving during the Korean War. After being honorably discharged from the USAF, he attended the University of Illinois, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. He then attended the University of Arkansas where he earned his Master of Business Administration. He later earned the title of Certified Public Accountant.

Jack was an entrepreneur, college professor, and former chairman of the Accounting Department at Georgia Southern College (University) in Statesboro, GA. He loved his family, pets, golf, and Georgia Institute of Technology sports. After moving to the Atlanta area, he married his wife of more than 39 years, Betty Cook Billard. Together, they danced, traveled with their pets in their RV, and made their home the ‘Billard Bed & Breakfast’ for their children, grandchildren and friends. Jack, Betty, and Jack’s eldest son, Bill, and his children loved Georgia Tech football, attending many games and returning to Jack and Betty’s home for weekend family gatherings. Jack and Betty moved to Bluffton, SC, in 2017 to be closer to family.

Jack was preceded in death by his eldest son, William Dean Billard. He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Katherine Cook Billard; daughter- in-law, Pamela Fandrich Billard; son Robert and his wife, Bridget; granddaughter Nancy, her husband Brad Duncan, and great- grandchildren Mary Patricia, Madeline, and Ford; grandson William D. Billard II, his wife Jill and great-granddaughters, Hawley and Margaret;  grandson  M.  Patrick  Billard;  grandson  Captain  Robert Billard (USMC), his wife Kristen and great-granddaughter Asuka; and grandson Christopher (Beau) Billard.
