Louis "Andy" DePaolis

On October 23, 2023, Louis Andrew DePaolis, Jr, 81 of Bluffton, SC passed away at home surrounded by family following a valiant cancer battle.

Andy, as he was known by all who loved him, is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Dyane; son, Dr. David DePaolis (Dr. Debra Maibach); daughter, Cheryl DePaolis; brother Jerry DePaolis; grandchildren Isabella and Ethan DePaolis (who christened him “Papi”) and many nieces, nephews and cousins who will forever cherish his memory.

Born in Syracuse, NY to Louis and Helen DePaolis. After graduating from North Syracuse High School, Andy served his country in the United States Air Force and later began his career with the Grand Union Company. He started as an entry level layout and paste-up artist, ascending all the way to Corporate VP of Advertising and Sales Promotion. After a 34-year career with Grand Union he began anew with RBS Media Group establishing their in-store radio advertising business and eventually became a managing partner.

Upon retirement, Andy and Dyane moved to Sun City in Bluffton, SC. and quickly found a spiritual and supportive community when they joined the Bluffton United Methodist Church.  Within the Sun City community, Andy was active in the Billiard Club, where he played several times a week and was known as “The Machine” by his friends/competitors. He enjoyed daily walks where he could connect with nature and never missed an opportunity to attend a vintage car show. On sunny days, he would often be seen cruising around in his 2015 Red Camaro Convertible.

As a Syracuse native, Andy will always be remembered for his unwavering love of everything Orange, as well as the NJ Devils, the NY Mets and his beloved Miami Dolphins!

Andy will forever be admired and loved for his infectious optimism, steadfast faith and dedication to family, friends and his church community. Never taking life too seriously, we will remember his quick wit, endless jokes, playful impressions and boundless love for his grandchildren.
