Margie Morris Mears died June 27, 2020 at her residence in Yemassee, SC after a brief illness.
Margie was the daughter of the late Willie Herman and Fairy B. Morris. She was born in Blackville, South Carolina.
She attended Ridgeland High School and married the love of her life “Bobby” on May 1, 1954. After their retirement they became the proprietors of Yemassee Hardware the only hardware store in the area run by a woman. Margie always smiled when the men came in to have a hydraulic hose made/repaired and she was able to fix them up. After 14 years in the hardware business she decided it was time for a change. She joined the BB&T family and retired after 10 years.
The highlight of her “career” really started in 1990 when on Thursday afternoons with a few close friends they would gather at Harold’s gas station and grill steaks over the grease racks creating the birth of Harold’s Country Club. You couldn’t get your plate unless she collected you money. She was proud and honored to be one of the founding members.
She never met a stranger and could reminisce and tell stories for days.
