Mary L. Gibson
February 5, 1947 - October 4, 2021
Mary Louise Gibson, loving mother of four and grandmother of nine, lived her life passionately as a lover of music, a talented crafter, enjoyed gardening, but most was especially, an avid tennis player and
lifelong fitness enthusiast. Mary had a zest for life which was evident in everything she touched. She was a loyal friend, with an infectious sense of humor. Mary’s playfulness and joy touched everyone who knew and loved her. She will be dearly missed by her loving family, her adoring husband and love of her life of 36 years, Philip T. Gibson. Mary was never one to turn away an opportunity to join fully in celebrating life, whether it be playing drums with her grandchildren, dancing to a favorite song, or most especially honoring the wishes of her devoted children.
Mary was born in the year 1947, in Kansas City, MO, to Bernard & Mary Fugate. Mary is survived by her four children, Patrick, Ted, Shannon and Kevin together with her nine grandchildren. She also leaves behind her brothers, Jerry, of St. Louis, MO, and Ron of Overland Park, KS, along with many nephews and nieces.
Mary met the love of her life, Phil Gibson, and they were married in 1985.
She spent her younger years in Kansas City and the rest of her adult life in the Southeastern US. Mary was always drawn to life near the water and the connection to the tranquility of nature that it offered. She was deeply spiritual, enjoying yoga and connecting to others as a Reiki master. Among her vast legacy, Mary’s overarching achievement was living and cultivating a life of strength, resourcefulness, and tenacity. This lives on in shining example through her four children. They stand empowered today as a direct result of her strength and confidence.
Mary passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, October 4, 2021. In continued celebration of a life lived in full, the family would like invite anyone who wishes to share a memory of Mary HERE (link). Additionally, in lieu family flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Hospital or any charity of your choice in Mary’s honor.
