Mary Therese Hess

Mary Therese Hess arrived on June 20, 1953 in Jackson, Michigan to her parents Bob and Rita (Deschaine) Bungart, who proceeded her. Mary was married to Robert (Bud) L. Hess, Jr. for thirty nine years and had three children: Robert (Rob) Hess, III (Brandon) of Bluffton, SC, Christopher Hess (Kelley and Phillip) of Hendersonville, TN and Chelsea Hess of Bluffton, SC. Mary’s greatest pride and achievements were her children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. 

Mary Hess, 69, of Bluffton, South Carolina, passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 5, 2023. She is also proceeded by death by her brother Phillip Bungart, Sr. and her sisters: Christine (Chrisi) Fryt and Roberta (Bobbie) Snyder. She also leaves behind her siblings Anne Hill and John Bungart (Kathy) plus many more dear family members. 

Mary loved her family more than anything especially her two grandsons: Brandon and Phillip. Mary will be missed by many of her friends and co-workers through out Jackson, MI and Bluffton, SC where she worked many years as a licensed cosmologist and at Marshall’s retail store for thirteen years. 

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in memory of Mary to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and/or to the American Heart Association. 

A Celebration of Life for the family will be held in her honor at Gene Davis and Sons Banquet and Conference Center, 3575 Francis Street Jackson, Michigan on Saturday July 8, 2023 from 3:00pm - 7:00pm ET. A Bluffton/Hilton Head Island, SC Celebration of Life is to be determined.
