Michael (Mike) H. Davis passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, September 29 in Canton, Georgia. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Mike lived life to the fullest, always wearing a large smile and offering a helping hand to anyone around him. Mike honorably served in the United States Army from 1951-1953. Mike was a wonderful husband to his wife, Julie for 65 years. Mike, also referred to as “Dad” and “Pop-Pop” served as an amazing Father to his two daughters, Barbara and Elizabeth, and proud grandfather to Michael and Connolly.
Mike and Julie raised their daughters in Manalapan, NJ. During this time Mike was involved in his church, community and enjoyed refereeing for the youth football league. He loved cheering on his Big Blue- New York Giants and remained a “Brooklyn“ Dodgers fan. He was a great storyteller and master of “Dad” jokes. Mike worked over 20+ years on Wall Street before retiring as VP of Operations with United States Aviation Insurance Group after 20 years of service.
Mike and Julie retired to Hilton Head, SC and later moved to Sun City where they resided for 21 years. They were blessed with many friends and neighbors who became family. Mike and Julie devoted their retirement to their church, charity and volunteer work. Mike and Julie were members of Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church for over 20 years. Mike was a 4th Degree Knight in the Knights Of Columbus and loved raising money for the children in his community.
Mike is survived by his beloved wife, Julia Davis; children: Barbara Davis, Elizabeth Huth, son-in-law, Tim Huth, grandchildren Michael and Connolly; brother, Kevin Davis and sister-in-law Christine, nephew, Timothy Davis, sister-in-law, Elaine Davis, nephews, Keith Davis and Brian Davis. Proceeded in Death by, beloved brother Robert Davis, Father, Henry Davis, stepmother Florence Davis and mother, Helen Curry.
Visitation will be held at Sauls Funeral Home, Bluffton, SC 29910 on October 11th, 2021 from 5-7pm. Funeral mass will be held at Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church, Bluffton, SC on Tuesday October 12, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow, at Beaufort National Cemetery @ 1:00 p.m.
