Michael Adam Mugrage, age 16, of Bluffton, SC and formerly of Princeville, Kauai, HI passed away Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at home after a courageous 10 month battle with alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare aggressive cancer.
Michael was born in Lihue, HI on April 12, 2002 and attended school at Hanalei School. In Bluffton he was a student of May River High School. He was recently honored by the Town of Bluffton and sworn in as an honorary Bluffton police officer. He loved football and was by far the biggest San Francisco 49ers fan in the state of South Carolina. He also enjoyed playing video games and spending time with his brother, Matthew.
Michael is survived by his mother, Jessica Mugrage and brother Matthew Mugrage of Bluffton, SC and his father, Mike Mugrage of Kauai, HI; maternal grandfather, Donald Jelfo (Nancy); paternal grandmother, Kathy Price (Darren); uncle & aunt, Mark & Rebecca Jelfo; great uncle & aunt, David & Linda Hazinski; aunt & uncle, Carole & Tim Cashman; cousins, Timothy and Lacey; and beloved dog, Max.
A Celebration of Michael’s life will be held at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at the gymnasium of May River High School, 601 New Riverside Road, Bluffton, SC 29910.
Michael's wish was to help other children with cancer.
