Obituary

SUN CITY, BLUFFTON – It is with great sadness our family announces that our cherished darling, Michelle Fraser, 58, died at home after a prolonged illness.

Michelle was born on April 22, 1964 in Audubon, New Jersey, the daughter of the late William Flynn and Lois (Flynn) Schleuss.  She then moved as an infant to San Antonio, Texas, where her father, William was in the Army.  After returning to Audubon for nine years, she then relocated with her family to Scotch Plains, NJ, and graduated from Scotch Plains High School.  She then attended Johnson & Wales University and graduated with a B.S. in Hotel Restaurant Management.  She was employed most of her adult life at C.R. Bard where she met her husband of 27 years, Jim Fraser.  In her younger years, she was captain of the crossing guards and a cheerleader.  She also spent many vacations at the Jersey Shore.

She and Jim resided in New Jersey, were transferred to Atlanta with Bard, and then relocated to Sun City.  She continued working remotely in Sun City for Bard until their takeover.

Michelle was very active in both her employ at Bard, where she located and planned their annual meetings, and also in Blue Heron Village, Sun City, where she was a Block Captain, Co-Captain of The Lady Putters, a member of the Blue Heron Social Committee and enjoyed playing bocce and Bunco.  She also adored cooking and giving parties.  She and Jim enjoyed visiting various zoos and animal refuges, including San Diego, Bronx, Columbia, Columbus Zoos, among various safari parks and aquariums.  They also traveled to Texas, Hawaii, Alaska and much of California. 

Michelle is survived by her beloved husband, Jim, and mother, Lois; aunts Linda Steen, Karen McGovern (Jim); God Child Sofia Steen; sisters-in-law Jan Fraser, Carol Benda (John); step-sisters Pam Cole (Jeff), Cheryl Hyers, Christina Schleuss (Randy); step-brothers Randy Schleuss (Christine), Scott Schleuss; cousins Jeff and Julianne Steen, Wendi Dull, Chuck Merritt (Donna), Scott Merritt, Brian McGovern (Alana), Shawn McGovern (Sarah), Patrice Sherry (Rich); nieces Tracy (Eric), Kristin, Jamie, Justine, Morgan, Julia, Lauren, Crystal (Mike); nephews Scott, Brian.

MEMORIAL SERVICE:  1:00 - 2:30 PM; Wednesday; September 21, 2022 at Sauls Funeral Home (90 Simmonsville Road; Bluffton, SC 29909.  

 The family will also hold a memorial in New Jersey.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to World Wildlife or ASPCA, in keeping with her love of animals.
