Monique was an ambitious student with a warm disposition known for her outgoing personality and laughter that would fill and light up a room. Although she was fiercely independent, her greatest job was being a mom to four kind-hearted children, Anthony, Dominique, Angelina, and Jacqueline. Monique was a very religious woman, and cared deeply about other human beings. She was a gifted honors student at Holy Family Academy. Due to her exceptional academic skills, Monique was dually enrolled in high school and Jersey City State College, and earned her first semester of college credits by the time she completed high school. Monique was a talented orator and won awards at the state and regional levels as a Holy Family Academy Speech Club member.
Monique, gifted in Science and Mathematics and passionate about helping others, always dreamed of serving in medicine. She was a standout member of the Future Physicians Club and began her medical training at the Practical Nursing Program at Bayonne High School immediately after graduation. She went on to earn an Associate’s degree in Nursing at SUNY Sullivan, and her Bachelor's degree in Nursing from Mount Saint Mary’s College in New York. Eventually she completed her PhD at the University of Phoenix. Monique was a nursing school college clinical professor. She became an entrepreneur with the LLC “The Visiting Nurse Practitioner,” then she got her ministry license and became a minister.
Monique also wrote a children’s book based around Catholicism, with her daughter Angelina, and is the published author and Angelina the illustrator. She then became a realtor. One of Monique’s latest accomplishments was the establishment of the Garden of Eden in Savannah, Georgia, which will live on through her children. Monique sent all of her children to private Catholic school because she believed a good education was essential to life. She loved to buy properties, travel with her children, and inspire others, just like her late and beloved mother Birdie Powell. Monique was Birdie’s only child.
