Patricia Gladys (Cook) Rivers

Patricia Gladys Cook Rivers,86, of Bluffton, SC,widow of Samuel P. Rivers passed away Thursday, March 18,2021 at Hilton Head Hospital.

Patricia,or Patsy, as most called her, was born on March 28,1934 in Hardeeville,South Carolina to the late William Edward Cook and Gladys Hodges Cook. She was proceeded in death by sons Stephen Rivers and Sammy Rivers, daughter Grace Rivers Broome, brothers Gene Cook and Bunky Cook, and grandson Dylan Rivers.

Patsy worked for Sea Pines for many years as well as for Kroger,but her happiest of times were spent working in her yard. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who refused to start her day without her coffee and newspaper. She also did not like to miss an episode of "Big Brother". Patsy loved her family something fierce,but was not above telling you about yourself if she deemed it necessary. She was also a hard working woman who was known to drive like a nervous Nascar driver and always appreciated a good Reuben.

Together, Patsy and Samuel had 5 boys and 1 girl. They also helped to raise 2 of Patsy's siblings. The loss of Samuel was rough,but the loss of 3 of her children and 1 grandchild was nearly unbearable. We feel sure that Stephen, Grace, Sammy,  Gene, Bunky and Dylan were all waiting with Samuel to greet her when she arrived in heaven. Patsy is survived by her sons Paul Michael Rivers, Leslie Rivers (Dayle), and Gregory Rivers. She had 12 grandchildren: Kersty, Erin, Tammy, Sammy (Bubba), Samantha, Dylan, William, Ben, Gregory, Stephen, Helen, and Paige. She also had 13 great grandchildren; brother, Jack Cook and a special niece, Amber Loomis.  

Her Hampton extended family will miss her being there at holidays and all of her family will miss her presence every day until we meet again. And, whoever sees her first better be prepared to tell her what happened on "The Curse of Oak Island". 

The visitation will be held graveside on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at 10:00 am with a service to follow at 11:00 am at Old Sardis Cemetery in Ridgeland.
