Phillip "Pop" Joseph Sanchez

Phillip “Pop” Joseph Sanchez, 90, of Hardeeville, SC passed away Sunday, February 10, 2019 at his home.

Pop was born November 15, 1928 in Miami, FL to the late Joseph Sanchez and Rosa Lee Russell Sanchez. He was a craftsman and cabinet maker, who enjoyed making furniture for family and friends. He also made cabinets for custom homes. His hobbies included hunting and fishing, and loved anything that included his family. On Tuesday nights, you could find Pop at the fellowship poker games. He attended and served as one of the first deacons of Abundant Life Church, where he had remained a member since the death of Pastor Charles W. Bowman.

Pop is survived by his children, Kenny (Glenda) Sanchez of Portal, GA, Darrell (Aleida) Sanchez of Guyton, GA, Brenda (Mike) Figueroa of Hardeeville, SC, John (Brenda) Sanchez of Hardeeville, and David (Bridgette) Sanchez of Hardeeville; brothers, Eugene Sanchez of Guyton, GA and Richard Sanchez of Davie, FL; grandchildren, Michael Figueroa, Mark Figueroa, Mandy Scott, Brittany Cormack, Celeste Bean, Adam Pittman, Wesley Sanchez, Joshua Sanchez, Keith Sanchez, Jason Sanchez, Stacey Stettner, Gina Sanchez, Kelly Claxton, James Driggers, and Amanda Malphrus; and great-grandchildren, McKinley, Hunter, Devin, Jordan, Kinsley, McKayla, Kingston, Mary, Lizzie, Emily, Annabell, Natalie, Olivia, Shane, Sierra, Ezekiel, Lane, Haley, Jaycee, Ansley, Jason, Amanda, Rylie, Brantley, Tyler, Mason, Christian, Logan, and Lucas.

The family of Pop Sanchez would like to thank the compassion and care of Compassus Hospice, and a special nurse, Allison Pace.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon, Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at Creative Church, 1293 Plantation Dr., Hardeeville with burial to follow at Purrysburg Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 am until the hour of the service at the church.
