Ralph Tygielski Obituary

Ralph Tygielski was born to Anthony and Kazimiera Tygielski on August 13, 1939. While Ralph’s father tragically passed away during Ralph’s infancy, he was fortunate to have his aunt and uncle, Anthony and Mary Dzieginski join his household. He was grateful for their love and supportive influence. Ralph recalled the events and mischiefs of his active childhood in South Chicago fondly and often. He was blessed to have strong relationships with his five older siblings, Zenon (Chuck), Adele, Richard, Betty, and Laura, his gentle mother, and his loving aunt and uncle.

Ralph's life was marked by service, achievement, and a deep commitment to his family and community. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1957, where he distinguished himself as a recipient of the Company Honorman Award, the highest company award for recruit training. He furthered his education at the US Naval School Class A Electronic Technicians.

Following his military service, Ralph pursued higher education and graduated from the Engineering School at the University of Illinois. It was there that he met his beloved wife of 57 years, Jacqueline. They married in 1966 and together adopted two daughters, Michelle and Donna.

Ralph's professional journey was equally impressive. He began his career at IBM Corporation, where he served in various roles and was responsible for a patent, leaving an indelible mark on the field. His career concluded at Alcatel, where his contributions and leadership were valued and respected by his colleagues.

Enthusiastic travelers Ralph and Jacqueline explored all 50 states, relished the beauty of national parks and the historical significance of presidential homes. Their adventures extended globally, as they embraced the cultures and wonders of every continent.

Ralph's passion for social causes was evident throughout his life. He generously dedicated his time, resources, and skills to numerous charitable endeavors, including Kairos Prison Ministry, St. Mark’s Church Outreach Appalachia, and St. Vincent de Paul, providing education, spiritual formation, and financial support to assist the most vulnerable in his community. Ralph and Jacqueline also represented North America in Teams of Our Lady, an international lay movement in the Catholic Church designed to enrich marriage spirituality and make good marriages better.

After 84 wonderful years, Ralph was born into eternity April 7, 2024. Ralph will be remembered for his kindness, integrity, and unwavering dedication to making the world a better place. He leaves behind a legacy of love and service that will continue to inspire all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife Jacqueline Tygielski, daughters Michelle Tygielski and Donna Holaday, grandchildren, Mia Tygielski, Patrick Holaday, and Jack Holaday, sister Betty Kudlinski, and many nephews, nieces, and their families who he cherished.

A memorial service to celebrate Ralph's life will be held at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 31 St Gregory Dr., Bluffton, SC 29909 on Friday, May 3rd at 10:30 am. Lunch will be served following the mass. The mass live stream may be accessed just before the service through St. Gregory the Great website www.sgg.cc
