Rev. Leonard Alfred Moore
Len, 56 of Okatie, SC passed away peacefully on November 12, 2021 at his home in Sun City, SC surrounded by family & Friends. Raised in Farmingdale, NY, Len was the son of Leonard and Lois Moore. Having attended the Human Resources School in Albertson since kindergarten, he decided to finish his last two years at Farmingdale High School, graduating in 1983. Despite his physical obstacles of spinal muscular atrophy, he went on to Siena College in Loudonville, New York as one of the first handicapped students to enroll at the school. He earned a B.B.A., Accounting (Concentrations in Finance and Psychology) in 1987.
Following his graduation from Siena, Len held several accounting positions and eventually enrolled in the master’s degree in accounting at Stony Brook University; However, his interest in the field began to wane as his interest in spiritual matters increased. A chance conversation with a former neighbor and parishioner of Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church introduced Lenny (as affectionately referred by family and friends) to Pastor Kenreich’s evening Bible classes. Raised a Roman Catholic, and always interested in the Bible, Lenny was led by the Lord and joined The Christ Our savior Lutheran Church, Hampton Bays NY. Ultimately, after a good deal of prayer Lenny decided his calling was not that of an accountant, but rather a Lutheran minister. He was accepted to Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, MO and began his divinity studies in 1996. Lenny, a diligent honor student successfully served his vicarage at Grace Lutheran Church in Milwaukee from 1998-1999. Upon graduation from the seminary in May 2000 Lenny accepted the call to Pastor at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Corinth, MS. In 2005 Rev. Moore continued his ministry in Bluffton/ Hilton Head SC until his death.
Lenny enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, and Neighbors in Sun City. He was faithful in leading Bible studies throughout his fifteen years in Bluffton/Sun City, SC. Lenny enjoyed anything competitive, watching and talking sports, his fish collection and taking walks with his devoted dog Mocha. Len was spiritually gifted and inspired all with his persistence and steadfast commitment to his faith despite significant and life-altering ailments.
