Richard “Richie” Albert Neste, age 67, passed away on December 7th, 2020 at Coastal Carolina Hospital in Hardeeville, SC surrounded by his three children. Richie was born on September 7, 1953 in Long Island, NY to the late Albert Neste and Joan May Gallis.
Richie worked hard from a young age, finding a love in sports, advertising and marketing. He owned several sports publication companies throughout his career and enjoyed working with many of the top sports teams in both New York and New Jersey. He was a dedicated coach the Raiders youth baseball team for many years in Dix Hills, NY. He and his family moved from Long Island, NY to Hilton Head Island, SC in 1994. He loved coaching baseball, playing sports, spending time with his family and friends, singing, playing music, gardening and spray painting anything that he could. He will be remembered for his love of his children and grandchildren and having a zest for life with family and friends. He was known for his many “Real Deal” words of wisdom and for having a heart bigger than anyone has ever known.
He is survived by the mother of his children, Charlene Neste Murgolo; his daughter, Marlayna (Judd) Tracy of Bluffton, SC; his son, Richard (Jill) Neste of Hilton Head, SC; his son, Christopher (fiancé, Morgan) Neste of Hilton Head, SC; and his five grandchildren; Richard Neste, Abigail Neste, Emma Kate Tracy, Ryan Neste and Blake Tracy.
He is also survived by his siblings; Nicholas Gallis, John Neste, Michael Neste, Annette Neste, Thomas Neste and Karen Neste and many nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he is also preceded in death by his sister, Maria Gallis.
A service to celebrate Richie’s life will be held at The Church of the Cross in downtown Bluffton, SC on January 9th, 2021 at 11am. Richie will be laid to rest in front of his church following the service.
