Rick Harlan Kaskel passed away on Sunday, November 21, 2021, after an extended illness. He was 67.
Rick was born on July 27, 1954 in New York City, New York. He attended the George Washington University and the Culinary Institute of America. He led a successful career in the restaurant industry, most recently at Texas Roadhouse as a Regional Market Partner.
Throughout his career, Rick developed and cherished the relationships with his colleagues who ultimately became friends. He was a mentor and Father figure to many who had the opportunity to work alongside him.
Rick loved to travel and explore great restaurants with his wife Jen – always looking for new and exciting places to see. Rick was an avid sports fan supporting his beloved Giants even though he knew Jen’s Pats were better. He was a diehard Yankees fan and never missed a round of PGA Golf as part of the weekend TV lineup. Always a kid at heart – he managed to get in Pearl Jam and U2 live shows every chance he could get – throwing in some Billy Joel and the Rolling Stones when the opportunity presented itself.
Rick loved spending time with his children, Justin, Matthew, and Miriam (Mimi). Thanksgiving and Christmas being a favorite time of year to get together, catch up and play a few competitive games of Monopoly. Rick was very proud of the people they have become and enjoyed hearing about their day to day antics.
In addition to Justin, Matthew, and Miriam, Rick is survived by his brothers, Ira Kaskel (Jill) and Dean Kaskel (Lori), and his uncle, Ronald Solomon (Uncle Ronnie and Diana) along with nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Stewart Kaskel and his mother, Marylinne Kaskel.
