Rita A. Sarno, age 73, of Bluffton passed away on December 28, 2019 with her beloved husband, David M. Sarno and daughter, Angela Sarno by her side.
Rita was born in Canton, OH on February 14, 1946 to the late Victor Bernabei and Lena Amicone Bernabei. Rita was raised in Canton where she met her husband of 51 years. She was a loving wife and mother who also had a career as an Investigator for G.E. Capital.
She and David moved to Sun City, Bluffton, SC in 2006 where she was a faithful member at Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church. Rita was known in Sun City as the lady with the big red hat and beautiful smile.
Rita, in addition to her husband, is survived by her son, Anthony Sarno (Justin Oates) of Key West, FL; her daughter, Angela Sarno (Todd Wallenbrock) of San Francisco, CA; her sister, Marie Lungociu of Fredrick, MD; and her grandchildren, Cash Wallenbrock and Scarlet Wallenbrock, to whom she was affectionately known as, Nonna Rita.
A Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am, Saturday, January 11, 2020 at Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 31 St. Gregory Drive, Bluffton. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:30 am at Saint Gregory the Great.
