Robert "Bob" Griffith Obituary

Robert "Bob" John Griffith, age 88, of Bluffton, South Carolina, was called to his eternal rest on April 4, 2024. Born on June 13, 1935, in Homestead, Pennsylvania, he was the cherished son of the late Dr. Robert Lysle Griffith and Marie Teresa Solomon.

Bob is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 62 years, Patricia Ann Griffith, his sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Lynn Griffith, Geoff and Marybeth Griffith, Rob and Allison Griffith; his treasured grandchildren, Robert, Tyler, Troy, Caitlin, Brett, Mathew, and Ashley; and his adored great-grandchild, Lucia.

A proud veteran, Bob served with distinction in the United States Marine Corps from 1954 to 1957, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. Following his service to the nation, he furthered his education at The Ohio State University, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Business in 1961. It was there that he met his future wife, Patricia Ann Probst, and they united in holy matrimony in July 1962.

Bob's professional life was marked by over four decades of dedicated service as a District Sales Manager for Anchor Glass Container, a role that saw him relocate with his family to various states, including Ohio, Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, and New Jersey.

Bob was a man of deep faith and served God and his community with fervor. He was a faithful parishioner of the Church of the Cross in Bluffton, SC, and had assumed various church leadership roles throughout the years in Fair Haven, NJ. His gentle spirit and generous heart were evident through his volunteer work with God's Goods and his active membership in The Ohio State Buckeye Club, the Sun City Veterans Association, and the Sun City Old Time Radio Group.

An avid golfer, Bob celebrated a hole-in-one at the age of 85 and was a celebrated member of the 2004 Sun City Men's Softball Championship team.

The funeral service will be held at the Church of the Cross, 110 Calhoun Street, Bluffton, South Carolina, on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at 2:00 pm. A reception to honor Bob's life will follow in the church's Reception Hall. The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Bob's memory to Friends of Caroline, 329 Friends Lane, Ridgeland, SC 29936.

Bob's life was a living testament to the values of dedication, love, and kindness. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. May he rest in peace.
