Mr. Robert W. (Bob) Clark was born on November 12, 1936 in Claysville PA. Son of Frank and Evelyn Clark. He attended and was a graduate of Claysville High School where he lettered in football and basketball. Upon graduation he married his grade school sweetheart Helga L. Stollar on January 13, 1957. He attended Washington & Jefferson college for a year before entering the U.S. Air Force. He had a number of duty stations that enabled him to visit several countries around the world where he displayed his talents as a member of the U.S. Air Force fast pitch softball all-star team. Upon completing his service to his country, he returned to Claysville and started his family having two sons Wayne Clark and Larry Clark. His family would later expand to include a grandson Aaron Clark and two great grandsons Hunter and Maddox Clark.
Bob was always involved in his community coaching little league football and baseball. He also started a sandlot baseball league and was a player manager of one of those teams. He was also a player manager of the 1973 class A world champion slow pitch softball team. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the Frazier Simplex rifle team. He loved sports and always enjoyed watching his son’s play. Bob started his work career with River Raisin paper company in Washington PA. which was later purchased by Union Camp Corporation. He was on staff of “The future business leaders of America” where he helped mentor the next generation of business leaders. During his career and through several promotions that took him from Washington PA, to Richmond VA, Harrisonburg VA, and finally to Morristown TN. Bob retired from Union Camp after 39 years of employment.
After retirement he moved to Bluffton SC. An area that he had grown to love during his time with Union Camp that owned a 40,000-acer hunting lodge known as the Bluffs.
Bob passed at home in Bluffton on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 surrounded by family members as per his wishes. He is survived by his wife Helga Clark, Son’s Wayne Clark (wife Martha) Larry Clark (wife Renae) grandson Aaron Clark (wife Rachel) and two great grandson’s Hunter Clark and Maddox Clark.
Mr. Clark will be interred at the Beaufort National Cemetery in Beaufort SC. with full military honors. In leu of flowers the family has asked that the donations be made in the name of Robert W. Clark to the Tunnel to Towers organization at www.tunnel2towers.org or contact at 718-987-1931 to donate in memoriam. This organization builds homes and pays off mortgages for wounded and the families of fallen veterans.
