Robert "Bob" Tremonte

Robert (Bob) Tremonte of Bluffton, SC passed away on January 5, 2021 was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend.  He was born on September 13, 1936 to Pascal and Margaret Tremonte in Buffalo, New York. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Richard Tremonte and his wife Virginia Louise Tremonte, mother of his four children, David, Mark, Kathy and Matthew. 

After 38 years of enduring the bad weather in Buffalo, Bob moved his family in 1973 to the new developing area of Hilton Head Island, SC to be a part of the building of this new community.  Bob was a big part of the much needed Volunteer Rescue Squad program starting in 1974 as there were no hospitals in the area at the time.  Bob was involved until the late 1980's when he served as chairman of the board. 

Bob was involved with Deep Well and Habitat for Humanity. He was a member of St. Luke's on Hilton Head, Church of the Cross in Bluffton and most recently Parish Church of St. Helena's in Beaufort and served on various ministries.  In 2014 Bob married Mary Aiana, and they enjoyed a wonderful life together traveling and just being together 

Bob was known as a master craftsman and built and renovated many homes on Hilton Head Island and Bluffton.  But most of all Bob was known as the most kind and caring man to so many friends, family and customers.  He was the patriarch and rock of his large family.  He was loved by everyone and had an unfailing list of people that admired him and his generosity to others and will be sorely missed.  Words simply cannot express the feeling of loss to his family and friends. 

Surviving family includes his wife, Mary J. Tremonte of Bluffton, SC; sons, David Robert Tremonte (Wanda) of Conyers, GA, Mark William Tremonte (Alice) of Lantana, TX, Matthew Richard Tremonte (Elizabeth) of Bishop, GA; daughter, Katherine Tremonte-Blackwell (Troy) of Rocky River, OH; brother, Russell Tremonte (Margo) of Newland, NC; sisters, Rosemarie Gallert of Bluffton, SC, Patricia Tremonte of Treasure Island, FL, Susan Ongley of Indianapolis, IN, Elizabeth Grenier of Largo, FL; grandchildren, Sarah Herhal (Mike), Austin Blackwell, Ryan Tremonte, Adam Tremonte (Emily), Caroline Tremonte, Andrew Corbin, Hailey Corbin, Hunter Corbin; two great-grandchildren, Isabelle Herhal and Derek Herhal.

A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Sauls Funeral Home Pavilion, 90 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton, South Carolina, following recommendations regarding COVID-19.  It would be helpful if all would bring an outdoor chair for your comfort and in order to practice social distancing. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice Care of the Lowcountry, Deep Well, or a charity of your choice.
