Ronald Baron Parnell, 76, of Bluffton, SC, went home to the Lord on Saturday, September 3, 2022.
Ron was born in Charleston, SC on June 1, 1946 to the late Baron L. Parnell, Jr. and Mary Louise (Hiers) Parnell. He was a graduate of Baptist College of Charleston (now Charleston Southern University) and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sylvia Blume Parnell, his son Robert (Bert) Parnell and wife Tonya Wisemiller Parnell of Windermere, FL; and his son Rhett Parnell and wife Meagan Knorr Parnell of Bluffton, SC. He is also survived by his sister, LaBonney Parnell Taylor of Chicago, IL, and the apples of his eye, his granddaughters, Kimberly (Bert & Tonya), Hannah, and Abigail (Rhett & Meagan).
Ron spent his career in pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturing, managing the operations of several different manufacturing plants before retiring back to SC.
He was extremely proud of his family and especially his granddaughters, supporting and cheering them on in their dance recitals and soccer matches.
His fanatical love of Clemson, and sports in general will be greatly missed, as will his love of a good knock-knock or ‘Dad’ joke shared with his granddaughters.
The memorial service will be held at Maye River Baptist Church on Friday, October 7, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with fellowship to follow in the church social hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or Samaritan’s Purse, PO Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607.
