With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Salvatore (Sal) Cardali of Bluffton, South Carolina, who passed away peacefully on September 29, 2021 at the age of 87.
Sal was born on February 21, 1934 in Irvington, NJ. After high school he enlisted in the United States Air Force. Upon completion of his service he enrolled in the Academy of Aeronautics and worked as a government contractor. He then moved onto a successful career selling Yellow Pages advertising for National Telephone Directory in Union, NJ. After 23 years he started and ran SC Refinishing, an office furniture refinishing business, until his retirement in 2008.
He married Katherine (nee Alcamo) on March 3, 1962. Sal resided in Irvington until 1970 before moving to Somerset, NJ with his wife and children. He then retired to Sun City, Bluffton, SC with his wife in 2010.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Cirino (Charles) Cardali and Angelina Cardali, and his brother Charles Cardali. He is survived by: his wife Katherine (Kay); his two children, Michael Cardali and Lisa O’Brien (Tim); and his five grandchildren, Joseph and Julia Cardali and Patrick, Michael, and Matthew O’Brien.
Sal was extremely proud of his family, going out of his way to introduce them to his acquaintances. Sal was an avid golfer, gardener, and woodworker and a friend to all.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Funeral Mass on Saturday, October 23rd at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in Bluffton, SC at 10:30am.
