Sarah Pinckney Branch

With great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Sarah Pinckney Branch on July 28, 2021.  Sarah leaves behind the love of her life her husband Chad Branch to remember and cherish her memory.  Sarah was the middle child of three siblings to the late Elias H. Pinckney, Sr. and Judith Woods Pinckney.  Sarah is also survived by her sister Sheri Pinckney Boyles (PeeWee) and her brother Elias H. Pinckney, Jr. (Misti). She is also survived by her in-laws Bill and Carrie Branch and Brother-in-law Todd Branch.  Sarah was born in Savannah, Georgia and grew up in Ridgeland, South Carolina.  After graduating high school from Thomas Heyward Academy, she received her B.S. in elementary education from Presbyterian College.  Later she received her Masters in Education from the University of South Carolina.  Sarah worked for the Jasper County School system from 1987 until 2003 when she moved to Virginia to enhance her educational career starting as an elementary principal with King and Queen Public Schools.  She worked with Roanoke County schools, Fluvanna County Schools, and most recently was employed with Henrico County Schools.  Sarah excelled as both a teacher and administrator because she loved her work and worked to make a difference in the lives of both students and staff with whom she worked.  Her hobbies included reading and traveling adventures with her husband.  She enjoyed special time at their home at the river where she enjoyed being surrounded by the beauty of nature.

Family was always her first priority.  She cherished her nine nieces and nephews as well as her six great nieces and nephews, who lovingly called her Aunt “Sa”.  She was always proud of their accomplishments and enjoying watching them grow and develop. Nieces are Mallory, Shelby (Chris), Whitney (Justin), Presley and Rebecca; nephews are Eli (Lauren), Levi, Cash, and Beau.

In lieu of flowers, please honor Sarah’s memory with donations to her favorite charity, Saint Jude’s.  A visitation will be held Wednesday August 4 ^th from 6-8 pm at Sauls Funeral Home in Ridgeland, South Carolina.  The funeral service will be held Thursday August 5 ^th at 11am at Church of the Holy Trinity - Grahamville, Ridgeland, South Carolina.  A Celebration of life will be held in Virginia at a later date.
