Stella A. Heuer

Stella A. Heuer, 97,passed to her eternal reward on February 14, 2021 peacefully of natural causes. Stella came to the Lowcountry from Phoenix, AZ in 1999. She quickly became a familiar figure at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church.  She volunteered for coordinating daily Mass, flower guild ,funeral ministry and eventually the school. Stella loved the children. She was the first "Catholic Woman of the Year" recognized by the Parish of St. Gregory the Great. Her greatest passion was working at the St. Francis Center "helping the less fortunate". She was so proud of her work at the Center and continued to do her work after becoming homebound in 2018. Stella was predeceased by the love of her life, John, her parents,3 brothers and 2 sisters, the last of her generation. She is survived by 3 sons, John (Mary), Bill, Joe and her daughter, Mary Alice (Sam) Meyer,4 granddaughters, Rachel ,Alex, Rhiannon and Senara, cousin, Jackie (Paul), niece, Joyce, nephews, Fred and Gerry (Judy) and families. A celebration of her life will be held at a safer time following the pandemic. The family wishes to express our deepest gratitude to the caregivers of Amazing Grace Home Care who lovingly cared for our mother over the past 2years. We also wish to thank Hospice Care of the Lowcountry for their kindness and guidance in the last days of our mother's life.
