THE BEGINNING
Born January 18, 1931, Susie Louise Joyner was the 7th born of 13 children to Ernest E. & Briddie Orr Joyner. Educated in the South Caroline school system, Susie accepted Christ at an early age.
THE EARY YEARS
Upon leaving Fairfax South Carolina Susie moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida where she resided for a few years prior to moving to New York City. While in New York Susie met and married Floyd Anderson where they raised three beautiful children. After the death of her husband Floyd, Susie held several jobs before landing her career job with the Bank of Irving Trust, which is where Susie retired.
LIFE AFTER RETIREMENT
After retirement, Susie moved to Hilton Head South Caroline, where she met and married Mr. James Sutton. Susie and James enjoyed several years traveling and enjoying life until James passing. Susie was active in her community, which she loved, and was loved by her community. After the passing of Susie’s late husband, Susie then moved to Flake City Florida to be closer to her sister Valerie Davis. Susie quickly became a member of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully as a Sunday school teacher and a deaconess. Susie loved to entertain while spending time with family and close friends.
As a three-time cancer survivor, Susie was an advocate and supporter for both cancer patients and survivors. Susie devoted her time, financial resources, and efforts to enhancing the lives of those who were also affected by cancer.
Prior to Susie’s transition, Susie was preceded in death by her parents; Ernest E. Joyner, Sr. & Briddie Orr Joyner; siblings; Marie Brown, Ernest Joyner, Jr., Helen Mitchell, Ruby Brodrick, Lenora Walters, Juanita Pettaway & Shirleen Mitchell; son Floyd Anderson and daughter Jacqueline Hayes
Susie leaves to cherish her memories, her only surviving daughter Wanda Sumpter, siblings Alverna Gaskin, Ernesteen Joyner, Valerie Davis (Melvin), Rudolph Joyner (Geneva) & Edwin Joyner (Gladys); grandchildren Shadira Smothers, Dana Frederick (Mark), Krystal Anderson, Kahreem Williams and Darrin Frederick. Susie also leaves behind two special friends, Larette King & Walter Brewer; 10 great – grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews as well as other family and friends.
