Teresa Marie Danforth

Teresa Marie Danforth, 68, of Bluffton, SC formally of Williamsburg, VA passed away Saturday, June 13, 2020 peacefully and surrounded by love in her home.

Born July 9, 1951 in Troy, NY Teresa graduated from Shaker High School to serve in the United States Air Force until her honorable discharge in July 1975.  Teresa later obtained her MBA from William and Mary during an extensive career in contract management with Jefferson Laboratories in Newport News, VA until her retirement in 2016.

Her courage and strength was felt by the many people she touched, friendships she created and her involvements in the different clubs in both her neighborhood of Hampton Lake and her church.   Her leadership with Sunday School at Smith Memorial Baptist Church in Williamsburg, VA culminated into working with the children at her church, Church of the Palms Methodist Church in Okatie, SC.  She was instrumental in the formation of the Friday morning knitting/crafting group and was involved in the Cancer Sucks and Sew Excited groups in her neighborhood of Hampton Lake.  She also took time out to be involved in the sewing group at the Church of the Palms who among other things sewed chemo caps to donate to hospitals and infusion centers. 

Teresa was preceded in death by her parents Michael Charles Grauso and Ruth Mable Blizzard Grauso and a stepson Patrick Danforth.  She is survived by her husband Harry P. Danforth, Jr., a brother Thomas Grauso of Albany, NY; her son Aaron Spaulding of Lexington, SC; daughter, Monica Spaulding of Bluffton, SC; stepsons, Peter Danforth of Gloucester, VA; Paul Danforth (Heather) of Jupiter, FL, and Philip Danforth (Jennalee) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; stepdaughters, Pamela Rigsby (Steve) of Fredericksburg, VA and Patricia Padgett (Nick) of Norfolk, VA; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; her cherished grand-dog Butter and other extended family.

Teresa was loved by many and will be missed by all.  Her courage, strength, encouragement, and wisdom will be remembered by all those who knew her and those she positively impacted in life.

Sauls Funeral Home of Bluffton is assisting the family with arrangements.  Services to be announced at a later date.
