Obituary

Theodore “Ted” Bekich, 82, husband of Jean “Pug” Cleland Bekich, died Monday, May 22, 2023 in a Savannah, GA hospital after an extended illness.

Ted was born on April 2, 1941 in Midland, PA to the late Sam Bekich and Sadie Roknich Bekich. He was a 10 year US Marine Corp Veteran having served in Vietnam. After being discharged from the USMC, he served 18 and a half years as a US Navy Seabee. He was also a retired supervisor with Union Camp Corporation.

Ted was a member of the Coosawhatchie Baptist Church as well as a Deacon, usher, choir member, and member of the building committee until he became unable to walk. He enjoyed fishing and shrimping in the river, but most of all, he loved his family, his church, and the United States of America.

He is survived by his wife, Jean “Pug” Cleland Bekich, his brother in law, Donald “Mossy” Cleland, several nieces and nephews, and fellow Deacon and best friend, Chief Tony Branch.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Brenda Sue “Peanut” Bekich, three sisters, Mary Shisler, Dolores “Chookie” Doughty, and Mildred “Dolly” Galioto.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 26, 2023 at Coosawhatchie Baptist Church at 3 pm. The family will receive friends beginning at 2 pm. A burial will follow in the Grahamville Cemetery.
