Thomas King of Bluffton SC passed away Thursday. He was born November 29, 1934 in Yonkers NY. Tom was predeceased by his best friend and loving wife of 59 years Eileen, whom he met when he was fourteen at a local swimming pool, and they married 8 years later. They were inseparable and together they raised family and enjoyed spending time together. We remember our dad working around the yard, installing our swimming pool, finishing an addition on our house, coaching little league, teaching us how to drive, and being the magical mechanic keeping his kids cars running.
Tom is survived by his six children: Thomas J King, Jr and his wife MaryAnn of Pawling NY, Janet King and her wife RoseAnn of The Villages FL, Robert King and his wife Tara of Cornwall NY, Laurie Austin and her husband Greg of Brewster NY, John King and his wife Deborah of Mt. Pleasant SC, and Kevin King and his wife Donna of Mahopac NY. He was the loving grandfather of 13 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Our dad will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a loving father, proud N.Y. Met fan, and a Hallmark Movie expert. He loved his Dunkin’ Donuts Ice coffee, having dinner with family and friends, and micro-managing the NY Mets from his recliner.
We all have fond memories, stories, and plenty of laughter, love and happiness in our hearts. Our dad was the rock and pillar of our family, and while we will always cherish our time with dad, he will be missed but we know he is happy being back with our mom.
He was the first man to hold our hands, walk us to our first day of school, hug us when we won, and comfort us on our losses. Now it’s time for us to let go of his hand and let him go back to our mom.
Private services will be held at Sauls Funeral Home, Bluffton.
