Thomas Elvin McElmurry

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Thomas Elvin McElmurry of Ridgeland, South Carolina.  After a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease, Tom passed away on October 19, 2023. 

He is survived by his loving wife Lisa Anne McElmurry of 23 years, daughter Michelle Marie McElmurry Bock, son-in-law Daniel Frederick Bock of Rockford, Michigan, and son Thomas Shane McElmurry of Southfield, Michigan. He will be forever cherished by grandchildren Kaden Daniel Bock and Taryn Marie Bock.  He will also be missed by his many in-laws and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents Elvin and Carmen McElmurry and his sister Linda McElmurry Hill.

Tom was born in Royal Oak, Michigan and graduated from Adelphia Academy in 1972.  After graduation Tom began his career as a paramedic with Suburban Ambulance and ended as a paramedic with Huron Valley Ambulance in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

It was at Huron Valley Ambulance where Tom and Lisa met and later married.  They spent the next 23 years in Whitmore Lake, Michigan, Clinton, Michigan and finally retiring to Bluffton, South Carolina and Ridgeland, South Carolina.

Tom and Lisa were avid animal lovers and have shared many wonderful dogs and cats over the years.  They also enjoyed many beautiful days soaking up the sun on the beach and riding Tom's beloved Harley Davidson.  Tom incorporated his love of nature into photography and bird watching.

Tom will be greatly missed.

Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family. 

Services will be held at Sauls Funeral Home in Bluffton, SC on November 2, 2023 at 2pm.  A gathering of family and friends will follow at the Abbey Glen Clubhouse.
