Virginia “Ginny” D. Ringwood Wychunis passed onto heaven at the age of 84 , peacefully in her daughters home January 28, 2019 after a courageous battle against pulmonary fibrosis.
Born September 28, 1934 in Mt. Kisco New York to the late William and Rose (Pritchard) Ringwood. Formerly a long time resident of Westchester County NY , she attended Pleasantville High School, later married Leonard Wychunis and raised a family. She retired from the Ruth Taylor Institute in Valhalla where she worked for many years in occupational therapy.
Ginny loved to travel and always ready to go. She enjoyed the simple things in life. She loved spending time with her family and friends doing such things as playing cards and shopping. Going out for breakfast with her friends Lessie and Claude was a favorite. In her earlier years she liked to kick up her heels country line dancing. With her wonderful sense of humor she always made us laugh. She was happy giving her time delivering for Meals on Wheels. Ginny was a caregiver at heart and always there for those in need.
She was a loving mother to daughters, Lisa Wychunis Barone of Bluffton SC , Barbara Wychunis of Wappingers Falls NY and Lenore Wychunis Bates of Valatie NY. She was a devoted grandmother to Jessica Bates, Kimberly Bates, Anthony Barone, Alyssa Maiden, Edmund Igras and Kayla Walsh. She is survived by sisters Audrey Brown, Janet Farquhar, Joan Bell, Barbara Weber, Elaine Swanson, Gail(George) Sinistore and Diane (Leonard) Scala and a daughter Jody Brown and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Brothers John and Charles Ringwood and sisters Letitia Sinistore and Ellen Ringwood preceded her in death. In keeping with her wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held May 26, 2019 at the West Branch Cemetery in Colrain, Massachusetts.
