Walter R McCurdy Jr. Passed away Sunday November 28, 2021
Predeceased by his beloved Wife Thora (Tommy) they are together again in heaven
Born March 21, 1921 at Swedish Hospital, Seattle, Washington. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1940 and Enrolled at the University of Washington September 1940 where he played Football for the Washington Huskies. It was war time and his time came the summer of 1941 at the young age of 19 Walter joined the Army.

Decorations and Citations included: Good Conduct Medal FO33 – American Defense Service Medal 049 – Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal 050 – Army Good conduct medal 033 – WW2 Victory 052 – US Army Commemorative Medal 234 – Combat Service Medal F234 – Combat Service Medal F239 and the Asiatic Pacific Victory Commemorative Medal.
After Many Beach Heads he was sent back to Australia and then home on December 7, 1944.
After being released from the Army he went back to School and shortly thereafter met the love of his life Thora T. Tomsich, known to you all as Tommy, they were married July 19 1946. Walter and Tommy moved to Rochester in 1952 in the middle of December and cold as only Rochester can be. Betty Jo was born July 16 1959, in July of 1961 they moved into a new home that they built on Irondequoit Bay in Webster, NY” Pebble Beach Trail”, a full life of boating in the summers and snowmobiling winters, what a great home …They lived there for 28 wonderful years and decided to move to Florida, fall of 1989. After they decided that “Condo” life was not for them on February 11 1997 they moved to Sun City. Walter had a full life a member of the Websters Lion Club for 25 years, an avid Snow and Water skier as well as an excellent golfer.
Walter is survived by his loving Daughter and Son in Law Betty Jo and Rick Kress; 2 Granddaughters Kristen Anderson and Jennifer Anderson; 1 Great Grandson – Jayden Anderson.
A Veterans Burial at the VA National Cemetery in Beaufort SC with Full Honors we be held at a later date.
