Wanda Smith Barton

Wanda Smith Barton, 75, of Orangeburg, SC, widow of the late Mauriece Barton, Jr., passed away on April 5, 2024. 

She was born on August 28, 1948 to the late Charles R. and Edna (Way) Smith. 

Mrs. Barton was employed by Stone Forest Industries for many years where she was manager of the shipping and receiving department.  She collected owl memorabilia and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan.  She enjoyed working crossword puzzles and loved spending time with her grandchildren.  Wanda was a devout member of the Coosawhatchie Baptist Church. 

Survivors include:  son, Richard Alan Barton (Holly) of Denmark, SC; daughter, Jennifer Ballew (Carroll) of Orangeburg, SC; brothers Ray Smith and Michael Smith, both of Grays, SC; sister Brenda Barton (David) Ridgeland, SC; grandchildren, Allen Barton, Randall Barton, Kayte Barton, J.D. Ballew (Brittany), Alex Ballew and Amanda Auerswald (Rob); great-grandchildren, Harper, Brice, Allen, Thomas, Weslie, Shayla and Ruby Anna. 

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Barton was preceded in death by brothers, Hasty Smith and Gene Smith.

Funeral:  11:00 AM, Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at Cossawhatchie Baptist Church.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Burial:  Gillisonville Cemetery.
